Rise Fellow 2024

Vick is an advocate for youth mental health. After seeing mental health issues affect those close to him, and a lack of lasting solutions, he has made it his mission to resolve the youth mental health crisis through fishing. Fish Hut, Vick’s Rise project, improves access to filing and helps solve youth mental health crises by providing Fish Huts™, boxes with fishing equipment near bodies of water, so that all youth can fish for free. As such, Vick has spoken out on the mental health benefits of fishing at the 2024 United States National Stem Festival and the 2024 UN Action and Awareness week. When not fishing at a local neighborhood pond, Vick has won grants for his research in the purification of contaminated water and national debate competitions. Apart from expanding his non-profit Fish Hut to more youth across the world, he wishes to become a leader in the trauma field.
