Belfu is a Turkish environmental enthusiast who believes that “Science is for everyone!” Inspired by the strength of plant roots, Belfu developed a permeable and environmentally friendly concrete solution that mitigates the risk of floods and also serves as an innovative solution to repurpose concrete waste for her Rise project. Most importantly, her Rise project offers a unique opportunity to transform concrete into a living structure by incorporating plant life. Outside of being in the lab, she enjoys tennis, golf, cooking and reading. Belfu aspires to have her own biotechnology startup where she can develop projects that address environmental pollution and public health.
