Passionate about promoting mental health awareness, Maria has enjoyed giving back to her community during COVID-19 and beyond. For her Rise project, Maria created a water purification system using only natural sustainable materials. The system uses rainwater and would make it potable for millions of Brazilians who do not have access to clean water. Maria is interested in studying psychology, neuroscience and would like to pursue a career in health and medicine.
